statement

My main focus is emphasizing the materials of photographs that contribute to an experience of the thing as a whole. By employing photographic processes developed in the 19th century, I am able to create a handmade object using subjects and materials that people see and interact with in their everyday lives, such as paper, wax, metal, fabric and glass. The resulting final object becomes more than the sum of its parts, connecting the thread of experience not just to visual information, but to an acceptance of the photograph as a physical object in three dimensions.
